Description
Angizem 60 mg contains the active ingredient Diltiazem hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. It is prescribed to treat and prevent angina pectoris. It is also effective at treating mild to moderate high blood pressure. Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker used as a hypertensive, antiarrhythmic and antianginal FDA approved drug. It is used to treat arrhythmias and, consequently, reduces the potential to worsen or create new arrhythmias such as extrasystole and AV block.
Product Description
Do not take Angizem 60 mg tablets if you are:
- Hypersensitive to Diltiazem or any other ingredients of the medicine.
- Taking a medicine called dantrolene used for severe muscle spasm or fever
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Already taking a medicine called Ivabrandine to treat certain heart diseases.
- Have heart failure and blood circulation problems. You may feel out of breath and have swollen ankles with these health conditions.
- Have a slow heart heartbeat (less than 50 beats per minute)
- Have any other serious problems associated with the heart. This includes having an uneven/irregular heartbeat.
Do not take Diltiazem 60 mg if any of the above applies to you. If you are unsure if you deal with any of the conditions above, speak to your doctor before taking this calcium channel blocker drug.
Talk to your doctor before taking Angizem 60 mg if any of the following applies to you:
- Have any other problem with your heart
- Are at risk of mood changes, including depression
- Are at risk of gut problems
- Are you going to have an operation
Your doctor will monitor your condition closely, particularly when you start taking the tablets if you: have diabetes, liver or kidney problems, ever had asthma or taking any beta-blocker medicines

Side Effects
Diltiazem therapy’s common adverse effects include bradycardia, peripheral oedema, fatigue, and headache. Severe side effects include hepatotoxicity, myocardial infarction, and congestive heart failure. The medicine may cause dizziness or tiredness; therefore, make sure you are not affected before driving or operating machinery.
How to Use
Always take medicine exactly as told you. If you have any questions, please consult your doctor. For adults, the maintenance dose is one 60 mg tablet thrice daily. Follow your doctor’s advice; he will decide on the best dose for you.
One tablet twice daily usually works for the elderly and those with liver or kidney problems. Your doctor may adjust the dose according to your response. It is not recommended for children.
The medicine comes in the form of a tablet. Swallow the pill with a glass of water and do not take more medicine than your doctor tells you to. If you take too many tablets, inform your doctor right away. An overdose may result in low blood pressure leading to collapse and a slow heartbeat, which may accompany changes in heart rhythm.
If you forget to take the dose, take it when you remember. Then, follow your regular dosing schedule. Do not take the double dose to compensate for the missed one.
Do not take Angizem 60 mg if you are hypersensitive to Diltiazem or any other ingredients in the medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction include breathing problems, a rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your face/lips/throat or tongue.
