Before taking medicine, it is best to tell your doctor about your medicines. This is especially required when using medicines that make you sleepy, such as allergy or cold medicines, narcotic pain medicine, sedatives, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, anxiety or depression, medicine for seizures, and so on, so the drug interaction does not happen.

Things to remember:

          — Taking medicine may impair your reactions or thinking. Hence, one must be careful while driving or doing activities requiring high alertness.

          — One must avoid alcohol as it may lead to certain side effects

          — The medicine is not to be shared with anyone, even if the person has the same symptom.

          — The medicine must be stored at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.

          — The medicine is to be used only for the purpose mentioned and not for any other purpose.

Do not take the drug if you:

          — Are allergic to hydroxyzine HCL or any other ingredient of the drug.

          — Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant.

          — Are breastfeeding your baby.

Tell your doctor if you have:

          — Epilepsy or other seizure disorder

          — Glaucoma

          — Emphysema, asthma or other breathing disorder

          — High blood pressure or heart disease

          — Blockage in your intestines or stomach, stomach ulcer

          — Liver/kidney disease

          — Problems while urinating or enlarged prostate

          — Thyroid disorder

Less serious side effects of the medicine include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision and headache.

Get medical help if you have serious side effects as below:

          — Restless muscle movements in your tongue, eyes, jaw or neck

          — Confusio

          — Tremor

          — Seizure

          — Hives

          — Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue

This is not a complete list of side effects. If you feel discomfort after taking the medicine and the discomfort continues for a long, you must get medical help as soon as possible.

When the medicine is consumed, it reduces activity in the central nervous system. It can also be used as an antihistamine. When used, it can potentially reduce the natural chemical histamine in the body. The chemical histamine can produce symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing or hives on the skin.

The medicine is to be taken with a glass of water. Take medicine as prescribed by the doctor. The dose should not be altered and should be taken exactly for the prescribed period. Even if you start feeling better after some time, you should complete the dose.
