    Description

     

    Cardivas CR 40 is a prescription medication which belongs to a group of medicines called beta blockers. It is often recommended with other medicines to treat the following condition.

          Herat failure – To treat mild to moderate-severe chronic heart failure of ischemic or cardiomyopathic origin, usually in addition to diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and digitalis, to reduce the risk of hospitalization and increase overall health.

        Hypertension (high blood pressure) – Cardivas is a controlled-release tablet for managing essential hypertension. It can be used alone or with other antihypertensive agents, especially thiazide diuretics.

        Left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction – Carvedilol is also used to reduce mortality in clinically stable patients who have survived the acute phase of myocardial infarction.

    Product Description

    Cardivas CR 40 is contraindicated in the following conditions:

    Sick sinus syndrome

    Bronchial asthma or related bronchospastic conditions

    Second or third-degree AV block

    Severe bradycardia

    Patients with severe hepatic impairment

    Patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to any medication components or other medications containing Carvedilol.

    Tell your doctor about all your medicines, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, herbal supplements, and vitamins. Cardivas has ingredients that may affect the absorption of other drugs; sometimes, other drugs can affect the way Cardivas works.

    Side Effects

    Common side effects of Cardivas 40 mg include diarrhoea, tiredness, weight gain, and shortness of breath. If you wear contact lenses, you may have fewer tears or dry eyes that can become bothersome.

    Serious side effects of Cardivas CR include:

    • Chest pain and heart attack if you suddenly stop taking Cardivas controlled release tablet
    • Worsening heart failure
    • Changes in your blood sugar
    • Worsening of a severe allergic reaction

    How to Use

    The daily dose of a controlled-release tablet usually depends on the patient’s condition.

    The tablets can be taken once daily in the morning with food. It should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing it. Cardivas 40 should not be given to patients with severe hepatic insufficiency when switching elderly patients 65 years or older to taking the higher dose of Carvedilol. Patients should not interrupt or discontinue using Cardivas CR without a doctor’s advice. Patients with heart failure should consult their doctors if they experience worsening symptoms, such as weight gain or increasing shortness of breath. Some patients may experience a drop in blood pressure when standing, resulting in dizziness and fainting. Patients are advised to sit or lie down when these symptoms of lower blood pressure occur. Diabetic patients should report any changes in blood sugar levels to their doctors. Contact lens wearers may experience decreased lacrimation.
