Cosart H 50/12.50mg Tablet

Do not take Cosart H 50/12.50mg if you have/are:

— Allergic to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any ingredients of the medicine

— Hypersensitive to other sulfonamide-derived substances

— Severely impaired liver function

— Suffering from gout

— Low sodium, low potassium, or high calcium that can’t be corrected by treatment

— Diabetes or kidney impairment and are treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren

— More than three months pregnant. It is also better to avoid combination medicine in early pregnancy.

Speak to your doctor before taking Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide if you:

— Have had skin cancer or developed an unexpected skin lesion during the treatment.

— Experience eye pain or a decrease in vision. Long-term hydrochlorothiazide treatment may increase the risk of some types of skin cancer.

— Experienced breathing or lung problems. If you feel breathless after taking the combination medicine, seek immediate medical help.

Cosart H may cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Let your doctor know if you develop signs and symptoms of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.

Dizziness or light-headedness may occur once your body adjusts to the medicine. If these effects last or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.

Other common side effects of Cosart H are:

— Muscle pain, leg pain, back pain

— Tiredness, weakness, and chest pain

— Increased potassium levels, decreased haemoglobin levels

— Changes in kidney function

— Insomnia, dizziness

— Nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and indigestion

   — Cosart H controls hypertension, but it doesn’t cure it. It is important to take the drug as instructed by your doctor. Even if you feel fine, don’t stop taking medicine. Before discontinuing the medication, consult your doctor first.

— For high blood pressure: The recommended dose of Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide for most patients with high blood pressure is one tablet per day to control blood pressure over 24 hours. The dose may be increased to two tablets once daily. The maximum dose is two tablets per day.

— Try to take the dose daily as prescribed. However, do not take an extra dose if you miss a dose. Just continue with the regular dosing schedule. Please speak to your doctor if you have further questions about the medicine used.

— You are not advised to drink alcohol while taking these tablets. Alcohol and Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide may increase each other’s effects.
