    Description

Febucip, 80 mg tablets, contain the active substance Febuxostat and is used in the treatment of gout, which is associated with high levels of uric acid in the body. When there is a high uric acid in the body, crystals may form in and around joints and kidneys. These crystals come with sudden severe pain, swelling, and redness of joints (known as a gout attack). If left untreated, large deposits may be in and around joints which could cause joint and bone damage. Febucip reduces uric acid levels in the blood. Keeping uric acid level low by taking a Febuxostat formulation once daily stops the crustal build-up, reducing symptoms over time.

    Product Description

Do not take Febucip 80 mg tablets if you are allergic to Febuxostat or any other ingredients in the formulation. Talk to your doctor before taking Febucip:

    — If you have had a kidney disorder or serious allergic reaction to allopurinol

    — If you have had heart problems, heart failure, or stroke.

    — If you have had liver problems

    — If you have thyroid problems

Possible symptoms include a severe rash, itchiness, swelling of limbs or face, breathing difficulties, fever with enlarged lymph nodes, and serious life-threatening allergic conditions with cardiac arrest. Your doctor might decide to discontinue treatment permanently. If you develop stevens-Johnson syndrome (severe skin rashes) with Febucip, you must not be restarted on Febuxostat at any time. If you get a rash or these skin symptoms, seek immediate medical advice and tell your health care expert that you are taking this medicine. It is especially important to tell your doctor if you are taking medicines containing mercaptopurine(used to treat cancer), azathioprine (used to reduce immune response), and theophylline (used to treat asthma). Do not give this medicine to children under 18 because safety and effectiveness have not been established in such patients.

    Side Effects

Common side effects of Febucip include diarrhoea, nausea, headache, rash, abnormal liver test results, increased gout symptoms, and swelling due to the retention of fluids in tissues. If you develop any side effects, get immediate medical advice. This includes any possible side effects not mentioned in this information guide.

    How to Use

The usual dose is one tablet daily. Continue taking the tablet daily even when you are not experiencing gout flare or attack. The tablets should be taken orally and can be taken before or after consuming food. Do not stop taking this medicine without your doctor’s approval, even if you feel better. If you discontinue treatment, your uric acid levels may rise, and your symptoms may worsen due to the build-up of crystals in and around the joints and kidneys. Please ask your healthcare provider if you have further questions about this medicine’s usage.
