    Flonida 5% is prescribed for patients with precancerous and cancerous growths affecting the outer layer of skin caused by ageing or exposure to sunlight, including:

    — Keratoses, including senile, arsenical, and actinic forms (also known as sunspots)

    — Keratoacanthoma (a tumour most commonly presents as a domestic nodule that develops on hair-bearing, sun-exposed skin.

    — Bowen’s disease (An early form of skin cancer that’s easily treatable) and simple skin cancers

    Solar Keratoses are red, rough, scaly, or crusty spots on the skin that are caused by excessive exposure to sunlight. They more commonly occur on sun-exposed areas, such as the face, ears, chest, forearms, and back of the hands. Solar keratoses do not cause any harm, but there’s a slight risk of developing skin cancer.

    Bowel disease appears as a red, scaly patch on the skin. It occurs when abnormal growth happens in the outer layer of the skin. It is most commonly found on the lower leg.

    Keratoacanthoma is a common tumour in the pilosebaceous glands and resembles squamous cell carcinoma. It appears as a dome-shaped tumour that grows on your skin. It usually grows rapidly and then may shrink and resolve without treatment. Ask your doctor if you have any questions about Flonida 5% has been prescribed to you. Your doctor, however, may have prescribed Fluorouracil preparation for another purpose.

    Flonida contains the active ingredient Fluorouracil, which belongs to a group of medicines called anticancer medications that are applied to the skin. It acts by destroying precancerous and cancerous cells while having little effect on normal cells. For the medicine to be effective, it is best to use it under the supervision of a doctor.

    Product Description

    Flonida 5% should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reaction to Fluorouracil. Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction may include:

    • Breathing difficulties
    • Rash, itching, or hives on the skin
    • Wheezing
    • Swelling of the face, tongue, lips, or other body parts

    Do not use this medicine if you have dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD enzyme deficiency).

    Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It can affect your

    Do not breastfeed if you do use this anticancer topical medicine.

    Contact with the eyes can irritate or burn your eyes and skin.

    Side Effects

    The most common ones are a sign that the medicine is working. These include rash, pain, itchiness, crusting, dermatitis, soreness, scarring, inflammation, irritation, increased skin sensitivity, darkening, and burning or ulceration at the application site.

    How to Use

    Follow all directions carefully given to you by your doctor. To use Flonida 5%, follow these steps:

    — Apply Flonida exactly as your doctor has told you.

    — Using a cotton bud, rubber glove, or a non-metal applicator, apply a thin layer of Flonida cream to the affected areas of the skin. Do not use too much of this topical medication.  Be careful not to allow the anticancer cream to come in contact with the mucus membranes such as eyes, lips, eyelids, and nostrils.

    — Rinse your hands carefully and thoroughly immediately after using Flonida cream.

    — If your doctor asks you to apply an occlusive dressing after using the cream, apply a fresh occlusive dressing to the areas daily.

    Apply the topical anticancer medication once or twice a day as your doctor advises. Do not apply the cream immediately before going to bed. Continue using the formulation as long as your doctor has told you to.
