Description
Foracort Forte Rotacaps is used in the regular treatment of asthma where the use of a combination of inhaled regular corticosteroid and long-acting beta agonist (LABA) therapy is appropriate. How to Use
Asthma
- Foracort Forte Rotacaps should only be used for inhalation through Cipla Rotahaler.
- It is used for the management of asthma. The dosage of the medicine components is individualized and should be adjusted to the severity of the disease.
- For adults, 1 Rotacap twice daily is the recommended dose. Some patients may need up to two Rotacaps twice daily.
- For adolescents (12 to 17 years)- one inhalation twice daily.
For the pediatric population, effectiveness and safety have not been established in children twelve years and younger and adolescents 13 to 17. The product is not recommended for children under twelve years of age. Patients should be reassessed by their doctor so that the dosage of Rotacaps remains optimal. The lowest dose should be considered to maintain effective control of symptoms. When control over symptoms is achieved with the lowest recommended dosage, the next step could include a test of inhaled corticosteroid alone. In general, when control of symptoms is achieved with the twice-daily regimen, adjustment to the lowest effective dose could include Foracort Forte Rotacaps given once daily, when according to the doctor, a long-acting bronchodilator would be required to maintain control.
COPD
For adults, the recommended dose is one rotacap twice daily.
Instructions for correct use:
- Foracort Forte Rotacaps should be administered as one inhalation twice daily, followed by the orally inhaled route only. Some patients may need up to two Rotacaps daily.
- After inhaling the medicine, patients should rinse the mouth with water without swallowing.
- More frequent administration or a high number of inhalations is not recommended as some patients are more likely to experience side effects with a higher dose of formoterol.
