Description
Graniset 1 mg treats nausea and vomiting associated with cytotoxic chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It is also used to prevent and treat postoperative nausea and vomiting. Granisetron is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Graniset tablets. Granisetron belongs to a group of medicines called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists or antiemetics used to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting.
Product Description
Do not take the drug if you are:
— Allergic to this active ingredient Granisetronor any other ingredient of the medicine
— Breastfeeding or a lactating women
— Pregnant or planning to be pregnant
Inform your doctor if you have the following:
— Liver problems
— Had strokes or heart attacks
— A history of depression
— Diabetes
— Low calcium and magnesium levels in your blood
— Bowel problem
Do not use this medication for any other infection or disease without consulting the doctor. If you do not feel better and are cured after completing the medication, then consult your doctor immediately.
You must inform your doctor about your medical history in advance and always take the list of all medications with you, which you may be using, especially those: Apomorphine, antiarrhythmics, sotalol, ketoconazole, ciprofloxacin, fluoroquinolones, phenobarbital, and erythromycin. However, this is not complete information; there may be some other medications that may show interactions. Never start a new medication without consulting your doctor.
Side Effects
The common side effects of Granisetron are vomiting, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, and rash on the skin. If any of these effects continue for a long time or the condition becomes uncontrolled, contact your doctor immediately.
Granisetron may rarely cause serious side effects such as severe abdominal pain, trouble breathing, depression, pain in your joints, electrolyte imbalance, chest pain, cough, irregular heartbeat, dry mouth, lightheadedness, jaundice, insomnia, and irregular heartbeat.
How to Use
The dosage of Graniset depends upon your weight, age, medical history, and response to the treatment. Therefore, the correct dose will be decided by your doctor. Take the dose exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Never take two tablets at one time to double the dose.
Graniset is to be taken daily with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. The tablet is to be swallowed with a glass of water. Take this drug exactly as your doctor prescribed it to you. Do not break or chew the tablet. You should take the dose until you complete the prescription. Do not stop taking the dose even if you feel better. You should complete the prescribed dose.
If you miss a dose of Granisetron, then take it as soon as you remember. Never take the missed dose if the time to take the next dose is nearby. Taking multiple doses simultaneously can lead to excess medication in your body, which can be harmful.
Call your doctor immediately in case of an overdose or get emergency medical attention.
