    Generic For I-Pill
    Generic Name Levonorgestrel
    SKU: sku1711 Category:

    Description

I pill to prevent pregnancy after an act of unprotected sexual intercourse. It is an emergency contraceptive pill containing a synthetic hormone-like substance, levonorgestrel. The pill prevents about 85% of expected pregnancies when it is taken within three days of unprotected sex. It will not prevent pregnancy in every instance. The tablet is more effective if taken sooner after unprotected sex. For more relevant information, please talk to your doctor.

    Product Description

Do not take a pill if you are hypersensitive to levonorgestrel or other medicine ingredients.

Tell your doctor if the following applies to you before taking the I pill.

You may already be pregnant if:

    — Your period is more than five days late, or if you have unusual bleeding when your next period is due

    — You have had unprotected intercourse for more than 72 hours since your last period

You should speak to your doctor for advice about emergency contraception if you:

    — Have Crohn’s disease, a disease of your small bowel that interferes with the digestion of your food

    — Have liver disorders

    — Have inflammation of the fallopian tube

    — Have you ever had an ectopic pregnancy

    — Are you taking any prescription medicines to treat your other medical conditions, as these drugs may prevent the pill from working:

    ● Medicines used to treat tuberculosis

    ● A medicine used to treat fungal infections

    ● Treatment for HIV infection

    ● Barbiturates and other medicines used to treat epilepsy

If any of these applies to you, I pill may not be a suitable drug; you may discuss with your doctor about other types of emergency contraception that may be better for you.

The contraceptive pill will not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases. Talk to your doctor for advice if you are worried about this.

Speak to your doctor if you take any other medicine, including medicines obtained without a prescription. You should let your doctor know if you are taking any medicine listed in this information guide.

    Side Effects

The most common side effects of the I pill are nausea, fatigue, abdominal pain, menstrual changes, headache, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhoea, and irregular bleeding until your next period may occur.

    How to Use

          — Before you take the I pill, your doctor may check that you are not already pregnant. You can take the tablet anytime during your menstrual cycle, except if your period is late. If your period is late, you should speak to your doctor.

    — Take the pill as soon as possible after you have had unprotected sex. Swallow the tablet with water, if necessary. Do not delay taking the pill. The contraceptive pill works better the sooner you take it after having unprotected sex. You should only use this contraceptive pill in an emergency and not as a regular method of contraception. Using I Pill more than once in a menstrual cycle is more likely to disturb your menstrual cycle.

    — If you are sick within two hours of consuming the pill, you must take another. Talk to your doctor immediately for advice and to obtain another tablet. If you continue to vomit, please consult your doctor.

    — If you need repeated courses of emergency contraception, you should pick long-term methods of contraception.

    — I pill is not recommended for use in children. Limited data is available on women under 16 years of age.
