Description
Idrofos 150 mg is a potent bisphosphonate used to treat and prevent osteoporosis.
The medicine is taken to strengthen the bones of those who have gone through menopause or have weak bones due to osteoporosis. Doctors may also prescribe this medicine to women with breast cancer that has spread to the bones.
Osteoporosis leads to the weakening and thinning of bones, and women with such conditions are likely to get fractures if they fall. The medicine works by preventing bone calcium loss and increasing bone mass. For those with breast cancer, which has spread to the bones, medicine is used to increase the bone mass in such people. It can also be used to reduce blood calcium in those suffering from an excessive level of it due to certain tumours.

Before taking medicine, tell your doctor about all the non-prescription and prescription drugs you may use. Inform your doctor if you are taking the below:
— Calcium supplements
— Antacids that is used to treat indigestion
— Aspirin or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, indometacin
— Ferrous sulphate that is used to treat anaemia
— Medicines containing calcium, aluminium, magnesium or iron
— Any antibiotics
— It is essential to reveal all the medicines to the doctor, so drug interaction does not occur.
Avoid alcohol while you are taking medicine. Using Idrofos may cause pain in joints and muscles. Consult your doctor if you experience such pain.
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to ibandronic acid or other medicine ingredients, have low blood calcium or have problems such as difficulty swallowing or narrowing food pipes. Tell your doctor if you are/have:
— Suffering from severely reduced kidney functions,
— Rare hereditary problems such as Lapp lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption or galactose intolerance,
— Not able to stand in the upright position for at least 1 hour after taking medicine
— Suffering from any intestinal problems such as heartburn, reflux, intestinal ulcers
— Suffering from cancer
— Having any dental or jaw problems
— Having vitamin D deficiency
— Having parathyroid gland problems
Side Effects
The common side effects of Idrofos 150 mg are diarrhoea, nausea, indigestion, stomach ache, headache, gastritis, muscle cramps and pain, etc. If you experience any of these or other discomfort and if it gets serious, you must visit the doctor immediately.
How to Use
The doctor will determine the dose after examining you thoroughly. The parameters which determine the dose are based on age, weight, the severity of the condition and the use of certain interacting medicines.
Idrofos it is to be taken without food with a glass of water. Following doctors’ instructions on how to take medicine are essential. The medicine should be taken for as long as the doctor prescribes it. Do not stop the medicine if you start feeling better after taking a part of the dose.
