Imatib 400 mg is a medicine containing the active ingredient Imatinib, which inhibits the growth of abnormal cells in certain types of cancer. It will only be prescribed to you by a health care specialist with experience in medicines to treat blood cancers.
Imatib is a treatment for adults and children for:
— Chronic myeloid leukaemia is when certain abnormal white cells start growing out of control.
— Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is a form in which certain abnormal white cells begin to grow out of control. Imatinib inhibits the growth of these cells.
Imatib also treats adults for:
— Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases are a group of blood diseases in which some blood cells begin growing out of control.
— Gastrointestinal stromal tumours – The cancer of the stomach and bowels arises from uncontrolled cell growth of the supporting tissues of these organs
— Hypereosinophilic syndrome and chronic eosinophilic leukaemia are blood disorders in which some blood cells start growing out of control.
— Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans – It is a cancer of the tissue beneath the skin in which some cells start growing out of control

Product Description
Do not take Imatib if you are allergic to Imatinib or any of the ingredients of the medicine. If this applies to you, let your doctor know without taking Imatib 400 mg tablets. If you think you may be allergic but are unsure, speak to your doctor for advice.
Speak to your doctor before taking Imatinib:
You may become more sensitive to the sun while taking Imatinib. Therefore, it is important to cover sun-exposed areas of the skin and use sunscreen with a high sun protection factor. Tell your doctor immediately if you quickly put on weight during the treatment. Imatib causes severe fluid retention.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Imatib 400 mg are:
- Rapid weight gain. Imatinib may cause your body to retain water.
- Symptoms of infections such as chills, fever, sore throat, and mouth ulcers. Imatinib can reduce the number of white blood cells so that you might get the infection more quickly.
- Unexpected bruising

How to Use
