Lamitor 200 mg contains Lamotrigine, which belongs to the group of medicines called anti-epileptics. It is effective against two conditions epilepsy and bipolar disorder. The medicine treats epilepsy by blocking the signals in the brain that triggers seizures or fits. It can be used in combination with other antiseizure drug. The medicine is also effective against a mood disorder called bipolar disorder. An individual witness extreme emotional highs and lows. Product Description
You should not take Lamitor 200 mg, if you ever had an allergic reaction to Lamotrigine or have any other allergies. Before taking this antiepileptic drug, tell your health care professional about all your medical conditions, including depression, mood problems, suicidal thoughts, or if you have ever developed allergic reaction to another antiseizure drug. Let your health care specialist inform if you are using oral birth control pills or other female hormonal therapy. Do not stop taking the contraceptive pills or other female hormonal medicines until you have discussed with your health care specialist. Your health care provider should be aware of your menstrual pattern such as breakthrough bleeding. Sudden discontinuation may cause side effects such as lack of coordination, dizziness, and double vision.
Your health care specialist should be aware of your pregnancy status. However, it is not known whether the antiepileptic medication will harm your developing baby. If you are a breastfeeding mom, Lamitor can pass into your breast milk. You and your health care provider should decide whether you can take Lamotrigine or not.
Side Effects
Lamitor 200 mg can also cause other types of serious allergic reactions which may affect your body. Call your health care specialist right away if you develop a skin rash, swollen lymph glands, yellowing of the skin or eyes, hives, fever, severe muscle pain, unusual bruising or bleeding, swelling in your lips and tongue, severe muscle pain, fatigue or weakness, and frequent infections. These symptoms may be the first signs of serious reaction. Your health care specialist will examine you to decide whether you should continue taking Lamotrigine or not. The most common side effects associated with the use of Lamitor include headache, sleepiness, back pain, dry mouth, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, fever, abdominal pain, tremor, and rash.
How to Use
Take Lamitor 200 mg exactly as your health care specialist prescribes. Your health care professional may change your dose. Do not change your dose without talking to your health care specialist. Do not stop the treatment, without having words with your health care provider. Sudden discontinuation may lead to serious health complications. Discuss with your health care provider if you wish to stop the use of Lamitor 200 mg. If you do not feel the full effects of the medicine for several weeks or your condition become worse, then speak to your health care specialist.
