Description
Loriday 10 mg (Loratadine) is an antihistamine with H1 receptor antagonist activity. It is extremely effective and long-acting, allowing once-a-day administration. Loratadine is the chief ingredient of the medicine Loratin 10 mg. The active component is the chemical in the medicine that makes it work. It is useful in treating perennial allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, and chronic urticaria.
Loratidine relieves allergic signs and symptoms of runny nose, sneezing, blocked nose, watery eyes etc. It is also indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria. The drug works by blocking the effects of histamine release during allergic reactions, thereby decreasing the symptoms of allergic reactions.
Product Description
The common drug interactions include Erythromycin, Cimetidine, Ketoconazole, and Amiodarone. Other drugs that inhibit hepatic metabolism should not be co-administered without your doctor’s advice. Discontinue the use of Loratadine approximately 48 hours before undergoing skin surgery since the medicine may diminish otherwise positive reactions to dermal reactivity indicators.
Side Effects
The side effects reported with the use of Loriday 10 mg in adults are headache, sedation, fatigue, and dry mouth. The following side effects are reported less frequently:
- Nausea
- Increased appetite
- Dizziness
- Palpitations
- Coughing
You may also experience hyperkinesia and nervousness. Alopecia, abnormal liver function and anaphylaxis have been reported rarely.
How to Use
Take Loratadine 10 mg exactly as prescribed. Check with your doctor if you have any doubts about using the medicine. You can take Loratin 10 mg tablets before or after consuming food. Swallow it whole with a glass of water.
— 10 mg is recommended for adults and children older than six.
— For children (2-5 years) – The recommended dose is 5 mg daily.
— The recommended dose to treat patients with renal and hepatic impairment is 10 mg
Loratadine should be taken for as long as your doctor has prescribed you. If, after three days of treatment, your symptoms do not improve, speak to your doctor.
Tell your doctor if you:
— Have abnormal liver functions
— Have a problem with your kidney
— Are about to have skin tests
— You are allergic to any of the ingredients of the medicine
