Description
Nebicard 2.5 mg contains the active ingredient Nebivolol, a cardiovascular drug of selective beta-blocking agents. It helps prevent increased heart pumping strength.
Nebivolol induces a dilating action on blood vessels, contributing to lower pressure. It is effective in treating raised blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Nebivolol is also used to treat mild and moderate chronic heart failure in patients aged 70 or over and other treatments.
Product Description
Do not take Nebicard if any of the following applies to you:
- Allergic to Nebivolol or any other ingredients present in the medicine
- Have one or more of the following disorders:
— Serious circulation problems in the arms or legs
— Low blood pressure
— Certain other serious heart problems
— Asthma or wheezing
— Liver function disorder
— Untreated phaeochromocytoma (a tumour located on the top of the kidneys)
— Metabolic disorder
Let your doctor know if you have or develop one of the following problems:
— Untreated chronic heart failure
— Abnormally slow heart
— First-degree heart block
— Prolonged breathing problems
— Diabetes
— Overactive thyroid gland
— Allergy
If you are undergoing surgery, always inform your doctor that you are taking Nebivolo before receiving anaesthesia. Let your doctor know if you have serious kidney disorders. Do not take Nebicard for heart failure, and tell your doctor. A doctor will regularly monitor you during the initial days of the chronic heart failure treatment
Nebicard is not recommended for use in children and adolescents.
Always tell your doctor if you are using or receiving any of the following medicine:
— Medicines for controlling the blood pressure or medicines for heart complications
— Sedatives and therapies for psychosis
— Medicines for depression
— Baclofen, an antispasmodic drug
— Amifostine, a protective medicine used during cancer treatment
— Antimalarial drugs
— Medicines used for treating excessive stomach acid and ulcers
— Medicines for asthma, blocked nose, or certain eye conditions such as glaucoma
— Medicines used for anaesthesia during an operation
— Medicines used for depression such as paroxetine, amitriptyline, fluoxetine
Side Effects
Common side effects include headache, diarrhoea, nausea, constipation, shortness of breath, swollen hands or feet, tiredness, and unusual itching or tingling sensation. Talk to your doctor immediately if you get any of these side effects.
How to Use
Always take Nebivolol exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you have any doubt. Nebicard may be taken during or after the meal, but you can take it without regard to food. The tablet should be best taken with water. Your doctor will recommend the correct dose after analyzing your condition. Therefore it is important to follow your doctor’s instructions when taking medicine. You should always discuss with your doctor before stopping nebivolol treatment whether you are taking it for high blood pressure or chronic heart failure. You should not stop the treatment abruptly, as this can worsen your heart failure.
