Description
Ocuvir dispersible tablets 200 mg contain a medicine called Aciclovir, which belongs to a class of medications known as antivirals. It acts by stopping the growth of the virus. The dispersible tablets are used to treat:
— Chickenpox
— Shingles and when started after the rash develop. It effectively reduces nerve pain after the rash has cleared.
— Cold sores and blisters: Cold sores are infections caused by the herpes simplex virus. In this infection, fluid-filled blisters are formed on the various areas of the face, body and also on mucous membranes. These blisters leave the area red and swollen. The blisters usually heal in a few weeks, but they can reappear.
— Genital herpes: Genital herpes is the infection passed down during sexual intercourse from one infected partner to the other. These sores can be found on the membranes of the genitals and sometimes around the opening of the rectum.
It effectively reduces the discomfort and severity of cold sores, also called fever blisters, found on lips and face, caused by Herpes Simplex virus infection.
Product Description
Do not take Ocuvir dispersible tablets if you are allergic to Aciclovir or other medicine ingredients. Avoid touching the sores unnecessarily. Check with your doctor before taking this medicine if you have kidney problems, are over 65 years of age, are thirsty, or your immune system is weak. Do not take Aciclovir with medicines to treat gout, stomach ulcers, and for body rejecting transplanted organs. For people aged 65 years of age or with renal issues, it is important when you take this medicine; you drink water regularly during the day. This helps to reduce the side effects that can affect the kidney or nervous system.
Side Effects
Inform your healthcare provider as soon as possible if you notice Diarrhea, Stuffy nose, Muscle pain, Unexplained weight loss, Joint pain, Vision changes, Skin rashes, hives and itching, and Tiredness. In such cases, you must go for immediate medical help. Do not get alarmed by the list. You may /may not experience any of it. Tell your doctor immediately about the above situation.
How to Use
It comes as a dispersible tablet and is taken orally. Place the tablet in a glass of water/juice and let it disperse or dissolve in the liquid. You can also use a spoon to dissolve it. Follow the directions given by the doctor on your prescription carefully. Do not take more or less than the prescribed amount. Ocuvir tablets can be taken with or without food. Take the dose at the correct time and quantity because improving the patient’s condition depends upon the correct dose taken at the correct time. Continue treatment as long as the health care provider prescribes, and if the cold sore does not heal after this time, treatment may continue for up to five days. If you are not fully recovered after ten days or your cold sore has become severe, consult your doctor.
