Description
Oxramet IR 5/1000mg contains two different medicines, namely metformin and dapagliflozin. Both belong to a class of drugs known as oral anti-diabetics. These medicines are used for a type of diabetes called type 2 diabetes. If you have Type 2 diabetes, your pancreas does not make enough insulin, or your body cannot use insulin properly. This leads to high levels of sugar in the bloodstream. Dapagliflozin removes excess sugar from your body and lowers the amount of sugar in the blood. Lowering blood sugar levels helps to prevent heart disease. Metformin inhibits glucose production in the liver. For the treatment of diabetes, medicine is used in combination with diet and exercise. Your doctor may prescribe this combination therapy if your diabetes cannot be controlled with other medicines to treat diabetes.
Product Description
Do not take Oxramet extended-release tablets if you are allergic to metformin, dapagliflozin, or any other ingredients present in the medicine. Also, avoid taking medicine if you have ever had a diabetic coma, severely reduced kidney function, severe infection, uncontrolled diabetes, liver problems, or serious heart problems. Discontinue treatment for a short time if you have a condition that may be associated with dehydration. You may have symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, exposure to the heart, or if you drink less fluid than normal. Stop taking the oral antidiabetic drug and immediately contact your doctor if you experience symptoms of lactic acidosis (build-up of lactic acid in the bloodstream).
