Description
Perinorm 10 mg is a prescription medicine used in adults for
- Heartburn symptoms with gastroesophageal reflux when certain other therapies do not work
- Signs of slow stomach emptying in people with diabetes
The medicine contains the active ingredient metoclopramide, an antiemetic drug that works on the part of your brain that prevents you from being sick (nausea & vomiting). Metoclopramide formulations effectively prevent delayed nausea and vomiting that may occur after chemotherapy. Doctors may also prescribe this antiemetic drug to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by radiotherapy and prevent nausea/vomiting in the case of migraine patients. Use Perinorm 10 mg under a doctor’s supervision.
Product Description
Do not take Perinorm 10 mg if you have a history of a problem controlling your muscles and movements after taking medicine. If you have stomach or intestinal problems, they could worsen with metoclopramide, and you may get bleeding, blockage, or a tear in the stomach or bowel wall. Therefore, avoid taking this antiemetic drug. Also, you should avoid taking Perinorm if:
- You have a tumour that leads to high blood pressure, such as pheochromocytoma
- Have epilepsy
- Allergic reactions to metoclopramide. Symptoms include swelling of face/throat/lips/mouth, trouble swallowing, or severe skin rash.
Also, let your doctor know before taking Perinorm if you have diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, problems controlling your muscle movements, hypertension, depression, heart failure, breast cancer, breast cancer, are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Perinorm 10 mg are restlessness, drowsiness, tiredness, and lack of energy. You may have more side effects the longer you use this antiemetic drug. Speak to your doctor about any side effects that bother you or that does not resolve within a few days.
How to Use
Take Perinorm exactly as your doctor tells you. Don’t change your dose unless your doctor advises you to do so. Perinorm comes in the form of a tablet to consume orally. Do not take this medicine for more than twelve weeks. Take it at least thirty minutes before each meal and at bedtime. Swallow the pill with a glass of water. To prevent overdose and associated complications, you must wait for at least six hours between each Perinorm dose, even in case of vomiting and rejection of dose.
For older people:
Perinorm dose may need to be reduced depending on hepatic insufficiency, renal disorders, and overall health.
Adults with hepatic & renal problems:
It is important to discuss if you have kidney problems or hepatic insufficiency with your doctor. The dose should be reduced if you have severe associated complications.
Metoclopramide must not be used in children less than one year. It can be used in children aged 1 to 18 years if other treatments are ineffective or cannot prevent delayed nausea/vomiting that may occur after chemotherapy.
If you take more of this medicine, you should contact your doctor right away. Excessive intake may make you experience uncontrollable movements, drowsiness, confusion, hallucinations, and heart problems. If you doubt using this medicine, it is always best to consult a doctor.
