Description
Pivasta contains Pitavastatin, which belongs to a class of medicines called statins or HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors primarily used to lower bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In addition, Pivasta tablets reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in the future. High cholesterol, also termed hyperlipidemia, occurs when there is an excess of the unhealthy cholesterol balance in the blood. High cholesterol levels in the blood cause narrowing of arteries contributing to heart problems like heart attack and stroke. There are two types of cholesterol- good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein) and bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein). Good cholesterol is good for our heart and helps reduce the bad cholesterol in our body.
On the other hand, an excessive amount of bad cholesterol leads to the risk of heart complications like heart attack and stroke. Pitavastatin works by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the body that is required to make cholesterol. Thereby, it reduces the bad cholesterol produced by the liver. Also, the drug reduces the risk of stroke or heart attack by reducing the excess cholesterol deposition in the brain and the heart’s major blood vessels. When the cholesterol level is high in the bloodstream, your arteries get narrowed and clogged, contributing to heart diseases like heart attack and stroke. Pitavastatin addresses non-LDL-C risk factors, producing reproducible and sustained increases in HDL-C levels.
