Description
Rivofonet 300 mg contains Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, is an antiviral medicine. It is combined with other antiviral drugs to treat HIV-1 in people two years of age and older. Tenofovir reduces the amount of HIV in your bloodstream. It also effectively treats chronic hepatitis B in adults and paediatrics 12 years of age and older. The antiviral medication may also increase the number of CD4 (T) cells in your body, which helps to fight off other infections. Reducing the viral load and increasing the CD4 (T) cell count may improve your immune system. This may cause a significant reduction in the risk of death or infections associated with a weak immune system. Rivofonet does not cure HIV infections or AIDS; people taking this antiviral medication may still develop illnesses and infections associated with HIV infection. Patients must continue treatment to control infection and decrease HIV-related complications. It is very important to follow HIV therapy under medical supervision. It is unknown if the HIV medication is safe and effective for treating HIV-1 infection in children under two years.
