Description
Contiflo D 0.5/0.4 mg is a prescription medicine that contains two medicines: dutasteride and tamsulosin. These two medications, when used together, can improve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. BPH is a frequent cause of lower urinary symptoms, including urinary frequency and urgency, a sensation of incomplete bladder emptying, straining to initiate urination, a weak and interrupted urine flow, and nocturia (a condition that causes you to wake up during the night to urinate). In addition to symptoms that may harm the quality of life, BPH can result in acute urinary retention (inability to empty all the urine from the bladder), recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI), urinary continence (leaking of urine), bladder stones, hematuria (blood in urine), and renal failure. The condition usually affects older men aged above 60 years. Lowering urinary tract symptoms caused by BPH will usually significantly improve the symptoms. Dutasteride shrinks the enlarged prostate, and tamsulosin causes relaxation of muscles in the prostate and neck of the bladder.
