Avoid taking it, if you are dealing with an overactive thyroid gland that too much thyroid hormone. Talk to your doctor before taking Eltroxin 100 mcg tablets if you have an overactive thyroid gland for a long time, suffer from fits, heart problems, panhypopituitarism ( a hormonal disorder), diabetes, or you are over 50 years of age. Your doctor will examine blood pressure regularly to see how much thyroxine your thyroid gland is producing and what concentration of Levothyroxine will be suitable for you.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Eltroxin 100 mcg can cause side effects, although not everybody who got a prescription for it gets them. Discontinue treatment and take immediate medical help if you have a rare allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, sensitivity to the sun, severe itching, general feeling of being unwell, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat. Some people receiving Levothyroxine may experience a severe reaction to high levels of Levothyroxine. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop fast heart rate, low blood pressure, fits, irregular heartbeat, extremely high temperature, confusions, heart failure, and jaundice, and coma. Tell your doctor if these side effects continue or get worse. Most side effects are like the symptoms of hyperthyroidism and are due to your dose of the medicine is too high. These side effects are usually disappeared after dose adjustments or discontinue treatment. However, only your doctor can advise you whether you need a reduced dose or complete discontinuation of treatment.
How to Use
Your doctor will decide the dose of Eltroxin 100 mcg. Usually, the dose depends on the results of your blood tests. The medicine comes in the form of a tablet that you must take with plenty of water. Take the tablet on an empty stomach; it is best to take an hour before breakfast or your first meal of the day. Those who find difficulty swallowing the tablet can dissolve it in 10 to 15 ml of water and consume with some more liquid. Use the dissolved solution straight away; do not keep it for later.
