    Febucip 40 mg is a prescription medicine indicated for the chronic management of hyperuricemia (elevated uric acid level in the blood) in adult patients with gout who have an inadequate response to a maximally titrated dose of allopurinol, whole can’t tolerate allopurinol, or for whom treatment with allopurinol is not advisable. The product is not recommended for the treatment of asymptomatic hyperuricemia.

    Product Description

    Do not take Febucip if you take azathioprine or mercaptopurine. It is not known if Febucip is safe and effective in children under 18 years of age. Concomitant administration of  Febucip with XO  substrate drugs, mercaptopurine, or azathioprine could increase concentrations of these drugs in the body leading to severe toxicity.

    Before taking Febucip, tell your doctor about the following:

    — All your medical conditions, including if you have taken allopurinol and what happened while taking it. Also, include those medicines you get over-the-counter (vitamins and herbal supplements). Febuxostat may affect how other medicines work, and other medicines may affect how Febuxostat works.

    — If you have heart disease, stroke, liver, or kidney problems

    — If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if this medicine will harm your unborn baby.

    — If you are breastfeeding, it is unknown if the medicine passes into your breast milk

    Side Effects

    The most common side effects of Febucip 40 mg include nausea, rash, joint pain, and abnormal liver function. These are not the possible side effects of Febuxostat. This medicine may cause serious side effects, including:

    • Heart problems
    • Gout flares – Gout flares can happen when you start taking Febucip. Your doctor may recommend you other medicines to help prevent your gout flares.
    • Liver problems – Liver impairment can happen in people who take this medicine. Your doctor may perform blood tests to determine if your liver is functioning well before and during your treatment with Let your doctor know if you develop symptoms signs or symptoms of liver problems:

    — Loss of appetite for several days or longer

    — Fatigue

    — dark or tea-coloured urine

    — Pain or tenderness on the right side

    — Jaundice

    • Severe skin and allergic reactions – Serious skin and allergic reactions that may affect different body parts, such as your heart, lungs, kidneys, or liver, can occur in people who take Febuxostat.

    These are not all the possible side effects of Febucip. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

    How to Use

    Febucip is recommended at 40 or 80 mg once daily. The recommended starting dose of this medicine is 40 mg once daily. It can be taken without regard to food or antacid use. Take medicine exactly as your doctor tells you to take it. You can take it before or after consuming food. Your gout may flare up when you begin taking this medicine. Do not discontinue treatment because you have a flare.
