Description
Flucort 0.025% (20 gm) is intended for topical administration. The active component is the corticosteroid fluocinolone acetonide. It effectively treats inflammation and itching caused by skin conditions such as Psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. The topical corticosteroid reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that causes inflammation.
Treating Psoriasis reduces the itchy, scaly patches that may appear on the elbows, scalp, knees, and other body parts. When used on eczema, and dermatitis, it reduces rash, pain, or itchiness caused by your skin’s reaction to an irritant.
Product Description
Patients should be advised not to use this Flucort ointment for any skin condition other than that for which it was prescribed. The treated area should not be bandaged, wrapped, or covered with dressing unless directed by the dermatologist. Parents of paediatric patients should be advised not to use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants as these garments may constitute occlusive dressings.
Side Effects
The following local side effects are observed infrequently with topical corticosteroids but may occur more frequently with occlusive dressings. These side effects include itching, burning, dryness, irritation, secondary infection, skin atrophy, hypopigmentation, dermatitis, etc. These side effects are temporary and usually subside within a few days. However, if they persist or worsen, inform your dermatologist immediately.
How to Use
Flucort ointment is generally applied to the affected areas as a thin film three to four times daily, depending on the severity of the condition. Make a partition of hair in hairy sites to allow direct contact with the lesion. For best results, use Flucort ointment as prescribed by the dermatologist. Keep using it for as long as prescribed to achieve the desired effects. The use of topical corticosteroids in children should be limited to the least amount for safety reasons, or take it as the dermatologist prescribes.
