    People with Psoriasis should not take OXCQ 200 mg tablets. Those with Hydroxychloroquine hypersensitivity should avoid taking the antimalarial drug. Use HCQS with caution if you have gastrointestinal, neurological, blood disorders or sensitivity to quinine. Certain other medications can interact with HCQS and cause health complications. Your doctor is responsible for evaluating the other treatments you receive to ensure no harmful interaction between them and hydroxychloroquine formulation.

    The medicine can be adjusted to minimize interaction risk, or an alternative therapy can be introduced in some cases. You can also ask your doctor to check for drug interactions. The medicine should be administered with caution in patients with G-6-PD deficiency. Discuss with your doctor to know more about the deficiency.

    Side Effects

    HCQS 200 mg is a relatively well-tolerated medicine. The most common side effects reported are nausea, vomiting, headache and stomach pain. These unwanted effects can often be lessened by taking the Hydroxychloroquine tablets with food. Some users may also experience itching. All pharmaceutical agents may have side effects. Minor side effects such as vomiting, nausea, or diarrhoea do not require discontinuation of the therapy. If you cannot tolerate the antimalarial drug, talk to your doctor, alternatives are available.

    How to Use

    Usually, both adults and children should take one dose per week starting at least one week before traveling to the area when malaria transmission occurs. They should take a single dose a week while there and four consecutive days after leaving. According to health care experts, there are no limits on the use of hydroxychloroquine to prevent malaria. When the drug is used at higher doses for many years, a rare eye condition may occur called retinopathy; individuals who continue this drug therapy for more than five years should get regular eye exams.

    For Lupus Erythematosus, the recommended dosage is 200 mg daily, administered as a single dose or in divided doses. The maintenance dose should exceed 400 mg otherwise, you may be at risk of developing retinopathy (disease of the retina).

    When it comes to treating rheumatoid arthritis, the action of HCQS is cumulative and may require weeks to months to achieve the maximum effects. Talk to your doctor to get the appropriate dosing regimen that suits you and help you get rid of the condition.
