Irovel 150 mg is an oral hypertensive agent having the property of a non-peptide Angiotensin II receptor antagonist. This is one of the most trusted drugs used to treat hypertension. This drug is used alone or with other drugs to treat high blood pressure. Irbesartan, the active ingredient of the medicine, also helps to protect the kidneys from the damage caused due to diabetes. High blood pressure is a big threat to the overall health of various body organs. Hypertension may become the main culprit for heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems.
Irbesartan decreases the heart’s workload by blocking the action of Angiotensin; Irbesartan also widens the blood vessels, thus reducing blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure may prevent heart attacks and various kidney problems.
Product Description
Do not take Irovel 150 mg if you are allergic to Irbesartan or any other ingredients in the formulation. You should not take this oral antihypertensive agent if you are more than three months pregnant, have diabetes, or have impaired kidney function. Speak to your doctor before taking this medicine, and if you have excessive vomiting or diarrhoea, heart problems, kidney disease, low blood sugar, or are going to have surgery. Let your doctor know if you take other medicines to treat high blood pressure. These include lisinopril, ramipril, enalapril, and aliskiren. If you take certain painkillers, called NSAIDs or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the effects of Irovel may be reduced.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Irovel 150 mg include dizziness, feeling vomiting, and blood tests may show elevated levels of an enzyme that measures muscle and heart function. In patients suffering from high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes with kidney disease, dizziness when getting up from a lying or sitting position, a significant drop in blood pressure from a lying or sitting position, and pain in muscles or joints.
How to Use
Irovel 150 mg is for oral use. Swallow the whole tablet with one glass full of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets. This medicine can be taken once a day. It can be taken with or without food. It is best to take it at the same time each day because it shows the best results and will help you remember the time to take the drug. Also, you should continue to take this medicine until your doctor tells you otherwise.
For patients with high blood pressure, the usual dose is 150 mg once a day. Later, the dose may be increased daily depending on blood pressure response. Your doctor may recommend a lower dose, especially when beginning treatment in certain populations, such as those with haemodialysis or those over 75 years. Irovel is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age
