    Description

Tacroz .01% is an ointment used to treat moderate to severe eczema, also termed as atopic dermatitis, in adults who did not respond to or were intolerant of conventional therapies such as topical corticosteroids and in children (two years and older) who filed to adequately to treatments like topical corticosteroid. The ointment treats moderate to severe atopic dermatitis after up to six weeks of treatment.

If you are experiencing frequent episodes (four or more per year), it may be possible to prevent the recurrence of flares or prolong the time you are free from flares by using  Tacrolimus  .01%  ointment twice a week. In the case of atopic dermatitis, an overreaction of the skin’s immune system causes skin inflammation. Tacroz ointment alters the abnormal immune response and relieves skin inflammation and itching.

    Product Description

Do not use ultraviolet light therapy, tanning beds, or sun lamps while receiving this topical therapy. Limit sun exposure during treatment with Tacroz ointment, even without medication on your skin. If you need to walk out in the sun after applying the topical formulation, prefer wearing loose-fitting clothes that protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. You should not cover the treated area with dressings or bandages. However, you can wear normal clothing. Avoid getting the medication into your eyes, nose, and mouth. Do not swallow the medication. Coadministration of certain drugs should be done with caution. Examples of such drugs are itraconazole, fluconazole, ketoconazole, cimetidine, calcium channel blockers, and erythromycin. The ointment is not recommended for children younger than two years of age.

    Side Effects

The most common side effects of Tacroz ointment at the skin application site are itching, stinging, and burning of the skin, treated with Tacrolimus. These side effects are usually mild, commonly reported during the first few weeks of treatment, and usually resolve as your skin heals. Other side effects include headache, acne, swollen or infected hair follicles, and increased skin sensitivity. Talk to your doctor right away if any of these cause trouble in any way.

    How to Use

Use the product for short periods; if required, the topical therapy may be repeated with breaks in between. Stop treatment when the symptoms of eczema, such as rash, itching, and redness, go away or as directed by your dermatologist.

Follow our doctor’s instructions if symptoms of eczema return after treatment with Tacrolimus ointment.
