Description
Volibo R 0.2/1mg is an oral antidiabetic agent containing two active ingredients, Voglibose and Repaglinide, which helps your pancreas produce more insulin and lower blood glucose.
The combination drug is used to control type 2 diabetes as an add on to diet and exercise. Usually, treatment begins when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone have not been able to control our blood sugar.
Type 2 diabetes is a disease in which your pancreas does not make enough insulin to control the sugar in blood or where your body does not normally respond to the insulin it produces. It is a lifelong disorder that can affect your everyday life. Lowering blood sugar is an essential part of diabetes management. If you achieve control over blood glucose levels, you can likely reduce the risk of getting serious complications of diabetes such as eye damage, nerve problems, kidney impairment/damage, and loss of limbs.
Repaglinide reduces blood glucose by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas. At the same time, Voglibose inhibits the intestinal enzymes that cause the breakdown of complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. Together, they prevent blood glucose from rising very high just after meals.
Product Description
Volibo R is not recommended in patients with moderate liver disease. Repaglinide should not be consumed if you have severe liver disease. If you have kidney problems, the medicine should be used with caution. In case you have major surgery or have recently suffered a severe illness, an infection, or had an injury. During the times, diabetic control may be lost. The antidiabetic agent is not recommended to those under 18 or above 75 years of age.
If you get into a hypoglycaemic state where you get a low blood sugar:
- If you take too many Volibo R tablets
- If you exercise more than usual
- If you take other medicines or suffer from liver or kidney problems.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of oral blood glucose-lowering drugs include diarrhoea, stomach pain and hypoglycaemia. The risk of getting hypoglycaemia may increase if you take other medicines.
How to Use
The recommended starting dose is 0.2/1mg after a meal. Check with your doctor if you are not sure. Swallow the pill with a glass of water. Do not discontinue treatment with your doctor’s approval. If you stop the treatment, your blood sugar may increase and put you at increased risk of serious complications like kidney damage and blindness.
If you take too many tablets, you may have low blood glucose, leading to a hypoglycaemic condition. Please see your doctor understand how to treat this condition.
