Description
Sorbitrate 5 mg contains the active ingredient Isosorbide dinitrate, which belongs to a class of medications known as nitrates. Isosorbide dinitrate is widely employed in managing patients with angina pectoris and is used with increasing frequency for impedance reduction in patients with left ventricular dysfunction. It widens the blood vessels in the heart, making blood flow to the heart easier. This medicine increases your ability to exercise and go about daily life more easily and confidently. Sorbitrate will not treat an angina attack that has already begun. It is also not intended to be taken just before an exercise session, sexual activity, and other physical activities to prevent chest pain. Other medications may be required in these situations. Speak to your doctor for more information.
Product Description
Concomitant use of Sorbitrate and Viagra can potentiate the hypotensive effect of Sorbitrate. This could cause life-threatening hypotension with syncope or myocardial infarction and death. Therefore, pills containing sildenafil, including Viagra, should not be given to patients receiving Isosorbide dinitrate therapy.
Sorbitrate 5 mg is not recommended for use if you have anaemia, bleeding in the brain, very low blood pressure, a heart attack, and low blood volume. Before taking Sorbitrate, inform your doctor if you have kidney, heart, liver, or thyroid problems, glaucoma, or extremely low body temperature. Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment with isosorbide dinitrate as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.
If you are pregnant or planning to have a baby, take advice from your doctor before taking this medicine. Sorbitrate should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Could you consult your doctor before taking it? Along with the treatment, your doctor may advise you to make certain lifestyle changes such as smoking, quitting alcohol, eating a healthy diet, improving your sleep at night, and managing weight.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Sorbitrate include headache and lightheadedness. These may resolve once you get used to the medicine. Consult your doctor if the side effects do not resolve. Some of these can be reduced by taking painkillers, avoiding alcohol, and drinking plenty of fluids. Alcohol consumption may increase side effects such as drowsiness, lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting; medical tests may be needed to monitor your progress and check for side effects.
How to Use
Sorbitrate must be taken in the dose and duration your doctor advises. Place the tablet under the tongue and let it dissolve. It is usually taken as needed, 5 to 10 minutes before physical activities, when the time-first sign of angina appears. One should take medicine as prescribed by the doctor. It is important to keep taking medicine even if you feel well. If you stop taking it suddenly, your risk of an angina attack increases. Lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this medication work better.
You can develop tolerance to this drug over time, which means the same dose becomes less effective. You must strictly follow a specific dosing regimen to prevent this from happening.
