Description
Telma H is a combination of two active ingredients, Telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide, available in one tablet. Both medicines help to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Telmisartan belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Angiotensin II is a natural substance produced by your body, and it causes your blood vessels to narrow, thus increasing your blood pressure. Telmisartan blocks the function of angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to relax, thus lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that increases urine output, lowering blood pressure. High blood pressure, when not treated, can damage blood vessels in several organs, which could lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure, or blindness. Usually, people having high blood pressure do not show symptoms before damage occurs. Thus, it is important to regularly measure your blood pressure levels to ensure it’s within normal range. The combination drug is used to treat hypertension in adults whose condition is not controlled enough when Telmisartan is used alone.
