Description
Terol LA 4 mg belongs to the class of medicine antimuscarinics. The active ingredient of the drug is Tolterodine. This medicine relieves spasms of the bladder muscles; it is prescribed for treating an overactive bladder with symptoms of urgency, urinary incontinence and frequency. It is also used in children above 5 years of age to treat bedwetting caused by an overactive bladder.
Terole LA 4 mg capsules work by relaxing the bladder muscles and preventing frequent, urgent or uncontrolled urination.
Product Description
Certain medicines, if taken with Tolterodine, may result in drug interaction. Drug interaction may increase or decrease the working of the medicine. Some of the medicines which should be avoided when taking Tolterodine so that drug interaction does not happen are:
— Anti-arrhythmic drugs like quinidine and amiodarone
— Azole antifungals like ketoconazole and itraconazole.
— Antiviral drug ritonavir
— Anticholinergics like atropine and scopolamine
— Antidepressant fluoxetine
Things to remember:
— Taking medicine can impact your reflexes and thinking. Hence, be careful while doing an activity that requires a lot of alertness, such as driving, operating heavy machinery, etc.
— It is best to avoid alcohol when taking medicines as it may lead to several side effects.
— Store the medicine in a cool and dry place away from heat, light and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children as well as pets.
— It is best to stay indoors while taking medicine since it inhibits sweating, which may result in heatstroke.
— Use the medicine only for the purpose mentioned and not for any other purpose.
— Do not share the medicine with anyone, even if the person suffers from the same symptoms.
Side Effects
Stop taking medicine if you experience side effects like hallucination, chest pain, confusion, fast or irregular heart rate, pain while urinating, or less or no urination.
Some less serious side effects of the medicine include joint pain, headache, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, stomach pain or upset.
The above side effect usually goes away after some time. However, if such a side effect persists, you must visit your doctor again. This is not a complete list of side effects that may happen. There may be other side effects as well
How to Use
The dosage and treatment period will be decided by a doctor considering your health condition.
The drug is to be taken orally with a glass of water. It should be taken as a whole, do not crush, break or chew it. Take Terol after having some food.
Do not take this drug if you:
— Are allergic to the main ingredient or any other ingredients of the drug.
— Have a blockage of the stomach, urinary tract or intestines.
— Have uncontrolled or untreated narrow-angle glaucoma
Also, inform your doctor if you have any existing diseases and taking other medications (including prescribed and non-prescribed). Don’t forget to mention your doctor if you have a family history of long QT syndrome, glaucoma or myasthenia gravis. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should mention their condition to a doctor if they are prescribed a Terol LA capsule.
