Description
Thyronorm 25 mcg contains Levothyroxine Sodium, a human-made thyroid hormone used for the treatment of a condition called hypothyroidism. It is not meant for use in patients with temporary hypothyroidism, which is usually related to thyroiditis (inflammation of the thyroid gland). It is made to replace a hormone that is usually made by the thyroid gland. Levothyroxine is a synthetic version of Thyroxine hormone, a hormone which is produced naturally by the thyroid gland in the body. It is used as a replacement therapy in case your thyroid gland cannot produce and prevent the symptoms of hypothyroidism. The most common symptoms of hypothyroidism are weight gain, tiredness, depression, a slow heart rate, hair loss, dry and flaky skin, cramps, a deep husky voice. Levothyroxine Sodium improves the patient’s condition by replacing a naturally produced thyroid hormone in the body.
Product Description
Do not store Thyroxine sodium tablets in the bathroom or near a sink. Also, do not leave it on the windowsills or in the car. Discontinue Thyronorm and talk to your doctor if a skin rash or other allergic reaction occurs. Inform your doctor about the condition regularly; if you feel this medicine is not helping your condition, please contact your doctor. Do not share your medicine with anyone, even if they the same symptoms as you have.
Side Effects
side effects are because of excessive dosage of Thyroxine Sodium and usually goes away on the reduction of dosage and withdrawal of treatment for a few days. Some common side effects are hypersensitivity reactions such as pruritis and skin rashes, abdominal cramps. Nausea, diarrhea, increased appetite, insomnia, headache, tremors, restlessness, heart failure, excitability, dyspnea, hair loss, sweating, flushing, muscular weakness, menstrual irregularity, cramps in the skeletal muscle, heat tolerance, excessive weight loss, impaired fertility, fever, etc.
How to Use
The recommended dose for adults is 25 to 50 mcg daily. Your doctor may increase your dose, depending on your health condition. The recommended average adult dose is 100 to 150 mcg. Follow your doctor’s instructions as they may differ from the information given in this document. In case you do not understand the directions mentioned on the label of the medicine, ask your doctor for help. Continue taking Thyronorm 50 mcg for as long as your doctor recommends it. The symptoms of an overdose include confusion, headache, pyrexia, sweating, irritability, agitation, convulsions, increased bowel movements, tachypnoea, and hyperactivity. The appearance of clinical hypothyroidism may be delayed up to 5 days. Therefore, avoid overdosing of the drug. In case you accidentally take an overdose, visit your doctor right away.
