Certain drugs may affect the way that Thyroxine works and some of them are sertraline, cimetidine, antacids, sucralfate, proton pump inhibitors, imatinib, rifampicin, amiodarone, beta-blockers etc.
Side Effects
The side effects associated with the use of Thyronorm 50 mcg usually occurs by taking a bigger dose than you need. Commonly reported side effects to include anxiety, vomiting, weight loss, nervousness, irregular heartbeat, diarrhoea, or restlessness. Most of these adverse effects will disappear once you are regular with your dose of Thyronorm. Some patients receiving Thyroxine may suffer a severe reaction to high levels of thyroid hormone. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop an extremely high temperature, low blood pressure, fits, confusion, yellowness in eye/skin, fast or irregular heartbeat. How to Use
Before you begin using Thyronorm 50 mcg, your doctor will do regular blood tests to determine how well it is working. Your doctor may ask you to take the drug on an empty stomach before the first meal of the day. You may be advised to take medicine daily to get the most of it. It may take several weeks do not see improvement in your symptoms of hypothyroidism. Your doctor may ask you to take Thyronorm for the rest of your life. If you stop the treatment, your symptoms may return. Therefore, it is important to continue treatment until the time your doctor asks you to take.
