Description
Tiniba 300 mg contains the active component Tinidazole, which is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for patients three years of age and older for treatment of trichomoniasis, amebiasis, giardiasis, and bacterial vaginosis.
1. Trichomoniasis – It is a very common sexually transmitted disease caused by parasitic infection with Trichomonas vaginalis.
2. Amoebiasis – lt is a disease caused by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica. Symptoms include nausea, diarrhoea, stomach tenderness, weight loss, occasional fever, and a feeling of sickness in the stomach.
3. Giardiasis – It is the diarrheal disease giardiasis caused by a tiny parasite.
A Tinidazole drug is the most preferred choice for drug for intestinal amebiasis. Its use as a conventional tablet dosage form provides a minimal amount of Tiniba for local action in the colon, resulting in the relief of amoebiasis. This drug usually may make you feel better quickly. However, one should continue taking the pill as long as it is prescribed, even if one feels better, to ensure the bacteria is killed and does not become resistant.
Product Description
Seizures and neuropathy have been reported. Stop taking Tiniba 300 mg if abnormal neurologic signs develop.
Vaginal candidiasis may occur in women and require an antifungal drug to treat the infection. Use Tiniba 300 mg with caution with patients with blood disorders.
The following drug interaction may occur with Tinidazole:
— Warfarin and other oral coumarin anticoagulant drugs. These may need adjustment during and up to eight days after Tiniba therapy.
— Consider monitoring lithium concentration.
— Alcohol-containing beverages. Avoid consumption up to three days after Tiniba treatment.
— Tacrolimus, cyclosporine
— Fluorouracil
— Fosphenytoin, phenytoin
Data on Tiniba use in children is limited to the treatment of amebiasis and giardiasis in patients three years and older.
If Tinidazole is taken on the same day and before haemodialysis, administer an additional half-dose after the end of hemodialysis.
Tiniba can be detected in breasts following administration. Therefore, interruption of breastfeeding is recommended during Tinidazole treatment and three days after the last dose.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Tiniba are nausea, weakness, fatigue, bitter taste, stomach cramps, dyspepsia, epigastric discomfort, anorexia, dizziness, anorexia, constipation, vomiting, and headache. These side effects are usually mild but let your doctor know if any of them become troublesome or last for more than a few days. Drinking alcohol while taking medicine cause an unpleasant disulfiram-like reaction that includes headache, vomiting, nausea, flushing, increased blood pressure, and shortness of breath.
How to Use
— Tiniba 300 is a tablet that can be crushed and administered with food. Taking medicine with food helps to minimize the incidence of epigastric discomfort and other gastrointestinal side effects. Alcoholic beverages when taking Tinidazole and for three days and after. Consult your doctor for the appropriate dosing regimen.
— For pediatric patients who cannot swallow the tablet, the dose may be crushed in an artificial cherry syrup to be taken with food.
— Dose adjustments are necessary for patients with kidney and liver insufficiency.
