How to Use
This drug is prescribed mainly for men with BPH (enlarge prostate) which makes it harder for them to pass urine. The course of medicine improves urination in men. Tamsulosin- Dutasteride may also be prescribed for conditions not listed above.
Tamsulosin works as a perfect alpha anti-androgen and blocks the functionality by binding with the androgenic receptors. This causes relaxation in smooth muscle and therefore less resistance to urinary flow Androgens such as testosterone are natural male sex hormones.
Dutasteride works as a competitive inhibitor of the 0.5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme converts testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Change of testosterone to DHT done by 0.5-alpha-reductase is necessary for prostatic hyperplasia development, thus the Dutasteride drug blocks the conversion.
Take Tamsulosin as your doctor prescribes. Veltam 0.4 mg + 5 mg tablet is usually taken once per day after about 30 minutes of having a meal. Ensure that you take this medication at the same time every day. Do not crush or chew the tablet and swallow it whole. This drug lowers the BP level and may lead to fainting or dizziness. Consult your health care provider if you experience dizziness, or feel like you may faint.
Take the drug as long as prescribed by your doctor. Ask your doctor about the time period for which the drug must be taken.
