Description
Zentel 400 mg contains the active ingredient Albendazole, a benzimidazole carbamate with anthelmintic and antiprotozoal activity against intestinal and tissue worm infections. It is used for the treatment of common worm infections of the gut, such as the following conditions caused by sensitive intestinal helminths/protozoa:
— Threadworm infections (strongyloidiasis)
— Pinworm infection (enterobiasis)
— Dwarf tapeworm infection (hymenolepiasis)
— Hookworm disease (ancylostomiasis and necatoriasis)
— Whipworm infection (trichuriasis)
— Pork/beef tapeworm infection (taeniasis)
— Roundworm infection (ascariasis)
— Hookworm causing skin disease
— Liver fluke infections (clonorchiasis and opisthorchiasis)
— Giardia infection (giardiasis in children)
Product Description
Do not Zentel 400 mg if you are pregnant, if you think you could be pregnant, or if you are planning to become pregnant.
Also, avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to Albendazole or other ingredients present in the Zentel tablets.
To avoid using Albendazole during early pregnancy, women of childbearing should begin treatment within the first week of menstruation or after a negative pregnancy test.
If you get a severe headache, nausea, vomiting, fits, or vision problems after taking medicine, consult a doctor. The medicine may cause liver problems. Please consult your doctor if you experience yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark-coloured urine, or light-coloured stools. Patients diagnosed with hepatic or renal insufficiency must seek advice from a doctor before taking this medicine.
The effects of some medicines may be affected if other medicines are used at the same time. You should tell your doctor if you use other medicines regularly, have recently used, or wish to use other medicines at the same time, such as Albendazole. These include medicines that you buy over the counter. Your doctor will be able to tell you if any problems could occur when taking Zentel with other medicines
Side Effects
Abnormal liver function and headaches are the most common side effects of Zentel treatment. Other side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and serious blistering skin rashes with swelling and peeling. Please contact your doctor if you develop any of these symptoms.

The recommended dose of Zentel is given below:
For adults and children over two years of age- 400 mg as a single dose.
For children 1 to 2 years of age- 200 mg as a single dose
Albendazole should not be used in children aged one year.
If the patients are still experiencing symptoms after a single course of treatment, they must consult a doctor for further treatment.
The maximum duration of treatment will vary according to your condition. Please follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose and treatment duration recommended.
Young children may experience difficulties swallowing the tablets whole and should be asked to chew the tablet with a little water. The tablets may also be crushed in water, and the suspension can be administered as an alternative.
Elderly patients with hepatic insufficiency or renal impairment must seek a doctor’s advice before taking medicine.
