Description
Zycolchin 0.5 mg is used to prevent gout attacks and to relieve the pain of gout attacks when they occur. It is also used to treat familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), an inborn condition that causes episodes of fever, swelling of the stomach area and pain, swelling of the lungs, and joints. This medicine acts as a painkiller and used for relief such conditions. Colchicine is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Zycolchin tablets. It is an anti-inflammatory drug. Colchicine is to be taken to ease the pain of a gout attack. This medication only helps in preventing the attack of gout, this drug does not cure gout. Colchicine is not an ordinary pain reliever and will not relieve most kinds of pain. Colchicine works by reducing swelling and pain in the affected joint. It blocks the movement of white blood cells known as leucocytes in uric acid deposition. The white blood cells get accumulated at sites of inflammation and produce chemicals which are known as cytokines that induce the inflammation and pain. Thus, by stopping the leucocytes and natural processes that cause swelling it cures the symptoms of gout.
